Kolkata: The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police nabbed a Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) racketeer identified as Majibur Shaikh, a resident of Baishnabnagar, from Malda on Monday evening. Investigators have recovered FICN worth Rs 5 lakh from him.Sources informed that Shaikh’s name came up to the STF investigators, following the arrest of three FICN racketeers in the month of July. Following the arrest of the trio, investigators had recovered FICN of Rs 500 denomination worth Rs 1 lakh, along with forty semi-finished improvised firearms. Twenty pieces of semi-finished firearms, one lathe machine, two drilling machines and several parts of improvised firearms were seized from the factory. Six persons working in the illegal workshop were arrested.During the follow up investigation, investigators came up with Shaikh’s name. On Monday, acting on a tip-off, an STF team was waiting for Shaikh at the Esplanade bus terminus. When he got down from a bus, STF personnel surrounded him.After checking his bag, 250 fake notes of Rs 2,000 denomination were found. The investigators are suspecting that Majibur might have connection with international FICN rackets.
