Huawei is ready to bring its Mate-series to India for the first time ever. It plans on kicking things off with the Mate 20 Pro, which is the company’s latest flagship smartphone that offers a stunning curved glass design, notched display, triple rear cameras and a new Kirin 980 chipset, among other things. The event begins at 11am IST and you can catch the livestream of the event here.The Mate 20 Pro succeeds the Mate 10 Pro that never made it to the country. The phone was first unveiled in Europe last month where it carries a price tag of EUR 1049 (approx Rs 89,100). The Mate 20 Pro’s price in India is expected to be more aggressive as the company looks to bite into the premium market in the country. We expect a price tag of around Rs 70,000, which would keep this in the company of the Galaxy Note 9 and iPhone XR. It will go on sale exclusively on Amazon India and we will know the sale date later today. As of now, we are not sure if the regular Mate 20 model will be launching in India as well.The Mate 20 Pro is as top-end premium as they come. It sports a large 6.39-inch QHD+ (1440×3120) curved OLED display with a 3D glass on the front and back. The rear panel comes in a gradient Twilight, Emerald Green and Black colours. It is powered by the company’s latest Kirin 980 chipset that is based on a 7nm process and comes with dual NPU. The Mate 20 Pro is also offered with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with support for expandability up to 256GB via microSD card. The Mate 20 Pro offers an in-display fingerprint sensor and 3D facial recognition as biometric options.advertisementOne of the many highlights of the Mate 20 Pro is its triple rear camera system on the back that Leica-branded. The system includes a 40MP wide-angle lens with f/1.8 aperture, a 20MP Ultra wide-angle lense with f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. The cameras also support laser and phase detection auto focus as well as AIS (AI-based stabilisation). On the front, the Mate 20 Pro sports a 24MP 3D depth sensing camera.The dual-SIM Mate 20 Pro houses a 4,200mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge support. The Mate 20 Pro also supports 15W wireless charging support and Huawei will be bringing its wireless charger to India as well.
