The news of the suspension is fairly shocking.Mississippi State head coach Joe Moorhead announced this afternoon that his team’s starting QB, Nick Fitzgerald, will not be playing this weekend.Fitzgerald is one of the top quarterbacks in the country, coming off a really impressive 2017 season.He’s being suspended along with a couple of other players.Joe Moorhead announces Nick Fitzgerald has been suspended for the season opener against Stephen F. He’s rushed for more than 2,000 yards and 33 touchdowns.His absence Week 1 likely won’t have much of an effect on Mississippi State’s chances, as the Bulldogs are taking on Stephen F. Austin.However, if Fitzgerald were to miss an extended period of time, that would be significant. Mississippi State is set to take on Kansas State in Manhattan Week 2. SEC play starts on Sept. 22.
